What is a Film Title Sequence?
They say that within the first seven seconds of meeting someone, people will have a solid impression of who that someone is and draw up a series of judgements, whether they be true or not, therefore it is essential one acts in the best way possible when meeting someone and gives off a good nature. This is pretty much the same with films, perhaps people drawing up judgements less quickly however, still at a fast rate, with before a film or a TV programme beginning, already forming a critical opinion on its tone. This is no less down to the opening credits of a film or a title sequence, having such an astronomical impact on the audience and their thoughts on the opening. Consequently, it is in filmmakers and directors best interest to create the most exciting opening sequence they can, to fully captivate the audience's imagination and foreshadow what is to come in their programme or film.

Opening credits and title sequences have undeniably come a long way, having a huge transformation, from relaying a film's cast and crew in the 1920s, to 100 years later, opening title sequences being more creative and advanced than ever before.

Nowadays, films use text overlays as opening credits in contrast to the common dedicated title sequence, being more of a stylistic choice. The success of the sequence is in how it establishes the tone of the film and communicates the key themes of the film.
