Designed by legendary graphic artist Neil Fujita, this font has an eerie feel to it, and signals to the audience immediately of its gangster, crime genre. The puppet-master pulling the strings behind the scene is demonstrated in the last scenes before Vito dies, the title foreshadowing what is to come. Moreover, the contrast between the white and the black of the title, allows the white font to stand out and attracts the audience's attention.

The white coloured font, covered by a grimey, dark gritt, represents how the happy, tight-knit family life of the Shelby's is covered by the dark world of crime. Additionally, the grimy colour demonstrates the poor working conditions of Birmingham in the 1920s, where many of these poor towns, such as Small Heath, were polluted by the numerous dirty factories. It gives the series, straight away, a feel for what is to come and like The Godfather signals the crime genre.

Without seeing the title, the audience knows what the James Bond films are like, with the James Bond films being extremely popular around the world. However, despite this, the title demonstrates the classy nature of these films, the ostentatious lifestyle of the eponymous protagonist.
